Heather represented California at the North American Young Rider Championships CCI** for the first time in 1998 and in 1999 bringing home the Team Gold Medal on her horse, Rebel Express.  Heather and Rebel continued their success, finishing 11th at the Foxhall CCI** in 2000 earning her the Markham Trophy for the highest placed young rider.  Heather and Rebel competed successfully through the Advanced level and in 2004 took on the challenge of the Rolex Kentucky CCI****.  After a heart problem occured on cross-country he is now retired from competition. In 2006 Heather won the CCI* at Galway with Genial who was also the Preliminary Horse of the Year. Then in 2007 Genial won the CCI** at Galway. And in 2008 he won the Colorado Horse Park CCI**.  In 2009, Heather has won the CIC** on Slate River, both at Poplar Place and Weatherford, won the CIC*** at Poplar in September and then finished the 3 star at Fair Hill on Slate River in 11th. Heather has been the Assistant trainer at Gold Chip Stables since 2002.

2009 was an amazing year, with many miles driven and new venues visited. Heather had many great opportunities this year including being put on the Developing Riders list, Training Sessions with Captain Mark Phillips, a trip to Burghleys CCI**** in England, a training grant from the USEF and being awarded the Amanda Warrington Training Grant. Also, Slate River finished the 2009 year in 6th on the Horse of the Year Leaderboard and while Heather finished 7th on the Overall Leaderboard and also being placed 3rd for the Ladies. Slate River is now qualified for the 2010 Rolex Kentucky CCI****. 2010 was a dissapointing year when Slate River injured himself in February. All the while, First Mark was rehabing and looking forward to a summer trip to Rebecca Farm. After an amazing dressage and xc, he came up lame and thus reinjured himself.  Now the end of 2010, we are looking forward to a much better 2011.  Slate River is back on track for Rolex 2011 while First Mark has started back to work following his stem cell surgery.
